Should I Weigh Meat With or Without the Bone?

Updated

In Fitia, all food weights are net weights, meaning they exclude bones, seeds, and peels (when applicable). You should log only the edible part of the food.

How Do I Log Meat That Has Bones?

When weighing meat like chicken drumsticks, thighs, or ribs, make sure to log only the edible portion. You can either:

  • Weigh the meat without the bone before eating, or
  • Weigh the entire piece with the bone, eat as usual, then subtract the bone weight afterward.

What If the Food Has Peels or Seeds?

The same rule applies. For foods like avocados, bananas, or mangoes, the weight shown in Fitia refers to the edible portion only, not the peel or seed.

So whether it's meat with bones or fruits with peels, always log the part you actually consume.
