What Is NEAT?

Updated

NEAT (non-exercise activity thermogenesis) is the energy your body burns through daily movements that aren’t considered formal exercise.

This includes activities like walking, cooking, cleaning, standing, fidgeting, or climbing stairs. Basically, any movement outside of structured workouts or gym sessions.

NEAT plays a key role in your total daily energy expenditure (TDEE) and can vary a lot from person to person. Someone with a more active lifestyle may burn significantly more calories through NEAT alone.

Learn how to import NEAT calories tracked with wearables and other devices into Fitia here.
