Why Do Other Apps Show Different Calories Than Fitia?
Updated
Fitia uses the most reliable international sources for calorie data. Most of our values come from the USDA (United States Department of Agriculture), which is considered a global standard.
If a food is specific to a certain country, we use that country’s official nutrition database—when available—to give you the most accurate information.
We can’t confirm which sources other apps use, so their values may vary depending on their own databases or estimation methods.
Why Calorie Values May Differ Across Apps
- Different data sources: Not all apps use the USDA or official databases.
- Estimations vs. verified data: Some apps use user-generated or estimated values.
- Food variants: Even similar foods can have different nutritional values depending on how they’re prepared or measured.
If you ever notice a difference, check the source or origin of the food item. Fitia always aims for accurate, science-backed information.
