How Does Fitia Calculate My Daily Calories?
Updated
We calculate your daily calories using the Mifflin-St Jeor equation, one of the most widely accepted methods for estimating your Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR)—the calories your body burns at rest. This estimate is based on your age, weight, height and sex, and is refined using algorithms trained on real user data.
How Does Fitia Calculate Total Daily Energy (TDEE)?
Starting from your BMR, Fitia adds the following components to estimate your Total Daily Energy Expenditure (TDEE):
- TEF (Thermic Effect of Food)
- NEAT (Non-Exercise Activity Thermogenesis)
- EAT (Exercise Activity Thermogenesis)
These values are personalized using the information you provide when creating your account. To improve accuracy, we also use internal formulas powered by algorithms trained on a large user base.
