Why Don’t the Macros and Calories Always Match in My Food Log?
It’s totally normal to notice small differences between the macros and total calories in your food log. Here’s why that can happen: - Food manufacturers run lab tests using different methods, which can lead to slight variations. - Sometimes, manufacturers report approximate values. In those cases, we can’t modify the info because we show the official data listed on the product label. - Some brands count fiber (a type of carb) as having zero or just 1–2 kcal per gram. - The product may contain sugar alcohols (also classified as carbs), which provide around 1–3 kcal per gram. - If the product contains alcohol, keep in mind it provides 7 kcal per gram. However, these small differences won’t affect your progress, as they don’t add up enough to impact your current goal.

How Does Fitia Calculate My Daily Calories?
We calculate your daily calories using the Mifflin-St Jeor equation, one of the most widely accepted methods for estimating your Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR)—the calories your body burns at rest. This estimate is based on your age, weight, height and sex, and is refined using algorithms trained on real user data. How Does Fitia Calculate Total Daily Energy (TDEE)? Starting from your BMR, Fitia adds the following components to estimate your Total Daily Energy Expenditure (TDEE): - TEF (Thermic Effect of Food) - NEAT (Non-Exercise Activity Thermogenesis) - EAT (Exercise Activity Thermogenesis) These values are personalized using the information you provide when creating your account. To improve accuracy, we also use internal formulas powered by algorithms trained on a large user base. Can I Adjust My Calorie Targets in the App? Yes. You can modify your calorie goal by following these steps: 1. Open the app and go to the Plan view. 2. Tap on your current calorie goal. 3. Select Calorie Settings. 4. Modify your base calorie amount as needed. This helps you keep your plan aligned with changes in your routine or personal goals.
