🌃 Craving a late-night snack but trying to stay on track with your diet? You don't have to deprive yourself—check out these snack ideas!
Late-night cravings happen. There are plenty of strategies to help you avoid or reduce them if they happen frequently (like eating most of your meals earlier, getting enough protein, etc.), but sometimes you just want a little something after dinner.
So, how do you fit a late-night snack into a weight loss plan?
👉 Keep snacks on hand that will satisfy you without adding too many extra calories, like the examples shown above.
Now, is eating late at night bad? There's evidence suggesting that eating very large and unbalanced meals late at night is linked to a higher risk of obesity or diabetes. However, this also relates to other lifestyle factors common among people who eat large late-night meals.
🌚 In fact, research has shown that having small, balanced snacks at night (~150 kcal) that provide nutrients can be harmless and might even help with muscle protein synthesis (especially when they include protein).
✅ Remember, the most important factor in weight loss is still your energy balance (the number of calories you consume compared to the number of calories you burn). So as long as you stay within your daily calorie goals, a small late-night snack won’t significantly impact your progress.
