ARE YOU GETTING YOUR PORTIONS RIGHT? 🤨
If your goal is fat loss, accurate portion control is essential. Avoid common mistakes to ensure you're consuming the right calories and macronutrients to reach your target.
🫴 Household measurements are a practical way to estimate food intake, but they must be used correctly. Otherwise, you could be unintentionally eating more than planned.
📈 If you’re overestimating portions, like in the images above, you’re likely eating more than you’re recording or what your plan suggests, which could derail your progress.
👩💻 This is a common issue. Research shows that people often underestimate the amount of food and calories they consume.
📄 For instance, a study found that people who reported eating 1,200 kcal or less (a low intake) but didn’t lose weight were actually consuming 47% more calories than they thought (around 1,800 kcal).
🥄 A big reason for this is portion distortion—thinking you’ve had “just a teaspoon” when you’ve actually had more.
✅ To stay on track, make sure your household measurements align with what your plan or food log indicates.
📱 In the Fitia app, you can track calories and macros for various foods in the database. And if you can't find a food, you can simply scan it!
